PMI South East Branch Event: Equilibrium and Project Management. 14th May 2024

The event will take place at University of Southampton, Centenary Building (100), University Road, SO17 1BJ

There are three core factors in project management: products, people, and environments. Product oriented approach is the traditional and the most popular approach, which has led to the development of many influential management theories. The other two factors have been included to support the need of producing the products. However, in practice, there are approached to use people-oriented approach, which takes the human development as the priority, which uses production activities merely as exercises for personal development. Environment oriented approach has a wider implication, which involves with the strategies of the project, which answers the question of doing the right thing. We argue that instead of focusing on a single factor, we shall have an integrated approach to find the balancing points of all these three approaches. This will challenge the concept of “searching for the best solution”. In this talk, Professor Yinshan Tang is going to introduce a new concept to replace “best” with “optimal” approaches and explore a novel approach for project management.
