PMI UK Mentoring scheme
Skilled mentors, enthusiastic mentees.
A voluntary scheme connecting members to develop skills in project, programme and portfolio management. It succeeds through the passion and commitment of those involved.
How it works
You must be a UK Chapter member. Mentors should be PMP certified; mentees should work in a project management related role.
Fill in the registration form and tell us what you want to gain — most other details come from your LinkedIn profile.
We’ll contact you to understand your capabilities and objectives. You can update your details any time.
We match you with an available mentor or mentee according to objectives and capabilities, and connect you via LinkedIn.
A first call checks that you’re compatible in aims, availability and preferred ways of communicating.
We recommend capturing and sharing objectives to keep the engagement focused.
Once connected, it’s up to you to make the most of it — we’re always available to help.
We suggest meeting, face to face or by phone, at least once a month.
The Mentoring Guide has plenty of advice on getting the most from the relationship.
We suggest six months as an initial duration; some relationships last for years.
Keep monitoring the value — when it stops, change the engagement or end it.
Let us know if you finish, and finish with style: reflect on the positives.
