PMI UK London Branch Event: Do we need a new PMI certification? PMI-Construction Professional (PMI-CP). 3rd December 2026

About this event

This event is taking place at University College London (UCL), Room 508 in Roberts Building, Malet Place, London WC1E 7JE

The construction industry faces unprecedented challenges, from increasing project complexity and cost overruns to fragmented stakeholder relationships, contractual disputes, and the growing demand for more collaborative and efficient project delivery.

But are traditional project management certifications sufficient to address these challenges?

The Project Management Institute (PMI) has introduced the PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) certification, specifically designed to address the unique challenges of managing construction projects.

In this engaging session, we will explore why PMI developed this industry-specific certification, how it differs from the well-established Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, and the competencies that today’s construction professionals need to succeed.

Drawing on his experience as a PMI-CP certified professional and PMI-CP Ambassador, Maurizio Sammarco will provide insights into this certification.

The session will also examine the certification pathway, eligibility requirements, and potential career benefits for construction professionals.

Whether you are an experienced project manager, an emerging construction professional, or a student considering a career in construction project management, this session will help you understand whether PMI-CP could be the right next step in your professional development.

Join us for an interactive discussion on the evolving competencies required to deliver successful construction projects and the role of professional certifications in shaping the future of the industry.
