Synergy Programme Director

Merv leads PMI UK’s Sustainability Community of Action, mentoring volunteers and co-designing events such as the Sustainability Summit. He builds high-performing teams, shares practical insights, and draws on his background in Benefits Management plus a strong interest in project data analytics and AI to help project professionals grow, connect, and deliver meaningful impact.

Paul Stern

Synergy Programme Manager

A dynamic, commercially aware Hydrographic Survey Project Manager with over twenty years of experience. Experienced in managing sub-contractors from tender stage to delivery of final products and project close within renewables, dredging (capital and maintenance), ROV survey and offshore construction. In my spare time, I am a representative for Family Voice Norfolk, representing the parents and carers of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) children and young people, expressing their views to the local authority, health services, social services, and other service providers. Currently, I hold an executive position within PMI UK Toastmasters club. I am also the lead moderator for PMI UK Digital Events. I am a school governor at a complex needs school with an HSE remit.

As Director of Chapter Operations and Sponsor of the Sustainability Community of Action at PMI UK, I lead large-scale volunteer initiatives and champion sustainable project delivery across the PMI network. With experience spanning global programme leadership and operational governance, I am committed to enabling communities to drive meaningful and practical sustainability outcomes through projects.
