PMI UK was delighted to participate in the recent Oracle Primavera Cloud Community Day, organized by Hyde Park Solutions and hosted by the Oracle Construction and Engineering team.
The event brought together clients, partners, project professionals and technology leaders to exchange experiences, share knowledge and explore how technology is continuing to influence the way organizations plan, manage and deliver projects.
PMI UK was represented at the event by Franco Guarrella, President of PMI UK, and Ariadna Groberio, PMI UK Chapter Board Director and Chair of PMI Northern Ireland, reinforcing the Chapter’s commitment to building stronger connections between our professional community, industry and the wider technology ecosystem.
Bringing PMI UK into the conversation
During the program, Ariadna introduced attendees to PMI UK, sharing the impact of our vibrant professional community of more than 7,000 members and highlighting the work taking place across the Chapter to connect, develop and support project professionals throughout the UK.
Beyond its scale, the strength of PMI UK lies in its community — professionals from different industries, backgrounds, career stages and areas of expertise who come together to learn, exchange experiences, develop their capabilities and contribute to the profession.
The presentation also provided an opportunity to look ahead, particularly at how Artificial Intelligence is changing the project profession and the capabilities that project, program and portfolio professionals will increasingly need.
AI and the evolving project profession
Artificial Intelligence was an important part of the conversation.
As AI becomes increasingly embedded in organizations, the discussion is moving beyond simply asking which tools professionals should use. It is also raising important questions about leadership, governance, human judgement, accountability, and how technological capability can be translated into meaningful outcomes.
During the session, Ariadna shared some of PMI’s work in this space, including the PMI AI Standard and PMI Infinity.
The PMI AI Standard provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of approaching AI responsibly and maintaining human judgement and accountability at the centre of AI-enabled project environments.
This part of the discussion also had a direct connection with PMI UK, as Ariadna contributed as one of the authors of the PMI AI Standard, bringing experience from the project profession into the development of this important work.
One of the key messages shared during the presentation was:
AI can expand our capabilities, but human judgement, leadership and accountability remain essential.
Attendees were also introduced to PMI Infinity, demonstrating how PMI is bringing AI capabilities closer to the everyday work of project professionals and connecting them with PMI’s project management knowledge and resources.
Together, these initiatives reflect an important evolution in our profession: supporting project professionals not simply to use emerging technologies, but to develop the knowledge, judgement and leadership capabilities required to use them effectively and responsibly.
Sharing knowledge across the industry
The Community Day was also about learning from one another.
Alongside the PMI UK presentation, the program brought together perspectives and experiences from organizations and professionals working across project delivery, technology and project controls.
Ariadna also joined fellow industry leaders and professionals for a panel discussion, exchanging perspectives, responding to questions from attendees and contributing to a broader conversation around the realities and challenges facing projects and organizations today.
These exchanges are particularly valuable because they connect professional knowledge with practical experience, allowing different sectors and disciplines to learn from one another.
Connecting with current and future members of our community
Some of the most valuable conversations happened beyond the formal sessions.
Throughout the networking opportunities, Franco and Ariadna connected with professionals from across the project and technology communities, exchanging experiences and discussing the role PMI can play in supporting professional growth.
There was strong interest from professionals who wanted to learn more about PMI and how they could deepen their knowledge, expand their professional networks, and become more involved with the community.
Several of these conversations involved professionals working, or looking to develop further, across project, program and portfolio management.
For PMI UK, these conversations matter.
Technology may continue to transform how projects are delivered, but the ability to connect with peers, learn from different experiences, and build meaningful professional relationships remains fundamental to professional development.
Events such as the Oracle Primavera Cloud Community Day allow PMI UK to extend those connections beyond our own program and events, bringing our community closer to practitioners, businesses and organizations at the forefront of technology and transformation.
Creating opportunities through collaboration
The event also highlighted the opportunities that can emerge when professional and industry communities work more closely together.
Hyde Park Solutions, as both an Oracle Construction and Engineering partner and a PMI Authorized Training Partner, has connections across these ecosystems and provides a natural opportunity for continued dialogue around project management, technology and professional development.
Following the Community Day, conversations are continuing around how PMI UK, Hyde Park Solutions and Oracle can remain connected and identify opportunities to bring their respective communities and expertise together.
Future possibilities could include events, webinars, and other knowledge-sharing opportunities around areas such as AI, technology, leadership, project management, and professional development.
For PMI UK, collaboration of this kind supports an important objective: providing our community with access to diverse perspectives, practical industry experience and opportunities to engage with organizations helping to shape the environments in which projects are delivered.
Looking ahead
PMI UK would like to thank Hyde Park Solutions for inviting the Chapter to contribute, the Oracle Construction and Engineering team for hosting the event, and all the speakers, panelists, partners and professionals who made the Community Day such an engaging and valuable experience.
The participation of Franco Guarrella and Ariadna Groberio also provided valuable opportunities to connect directly with professionals and organizations across the project and technology communities, strengthen relationships and open conversations for future collaboration.
The event reinforced something fundamental to PMI UK: while technology continues to transform how projects are planned and delivered, professional communities remain essential.
They give us a place to exchange knowledge, challenge our thinking, learn from one another, and build relationships that help both individuals and the profession move forward.
As AI and other emerging technologies continue to reshape project environments, PMI UK looks forward to creating more opportunities for our members to participate in these conversations, develop new capabilities and connect with professionals and organizations across the wider project ecosystem.
The future of project management will not be shaped by technology alone. It will also be shaped by the professionals who know how to lead with it.
