This event is dedicated to the development of the Project Management profession.
Addressing complex emergent problems, ultimately translates in making changes to happen, and this is where the project management comes into play to efficiently and effectively translate strategic decisions into accomplished facts. The day combines presentations by distinguished speakers, and an opportunity for networking.
The University of Westminster presents a Symposium at the Marylebone Campus, titled: “Building the bridge” Project management in the Age of uncertainty.

Speakers

Dr Walaa Bakry is Director of Executive Education at Westminster Business School and has more than 30 years of experience in higher education, leadership, and executive learning. He has contributed to executive education, consultancy, and international collaborations across the UK, Europe, and the Middle East. His work spans project management, digital learning, and organisational development.
Dr Bakry has published and edited work in project management, e-learning, and information systems. He is a Chartered Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS), a Fellow of the Royal Economic Society (FREcon), a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), and a PRINCE2 accredited, holding project management qualifications including PMQ, MSP, MoR and Scrum.
Ike Nwankwo, MSc, MBA, PMP is Chair of the Project Management Institute (PMI) Board of Directors and a long-standing leader within the global project management community. With more than 25 years of experience, he has led portfolios and delivered multi-million-dollar projects and programmes across information technology, construction and business transformation sectors for multinational organisations across the UK and Africa.
Alongside serving as Managing Director of Distinct Management Ltd, he is an experienced speaker and author with a strong interest in leadership development and project delivery. He has held numerous leadership positions within PMI, including President of the PMI Nigeria Chapter and PMI Region Mentor for Africa, contributing significantly to the growth and advancement of the profession globally.

Professor Darren Dalcher is Professor in Strategic Project Management at Lancaster University Management School and Founder and Director of the National Centre for Project Management (NCPM). He is internationally recognised for bridging academic research with professional practice in project management and has worked extensively with industry, government and professional bodies. Professor Dalcher has authored over 300 papers and more than 30 books and is widely known for his contributions to project success, strategy, innovation and reflective practice. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Association for Project Management and was recognised among the world’s leading project management thinkers.

Humayon Pramanik joined the Association for Project Management (APM) in 2022 and brings extensive experience in marketing, communications and strategic engagement across education and academic sectors. He has held senior leadership roles in both private and public organisations, including E-ACT and Queen Mary University of London.
At APM, he leads marketing, public affairs, brand and communications activities, supporting the growth and visibility of the project profession and strengthening its role and impact across wider society. He is also an experienced public speaker with a strong focus on strategic communication and professional engagement.

Richard Campbell is responsible for the development and delivery of a portfolio of knowledge products designed to advance business agility. These products help organisations respond more effectively to the complex and volatile environment in which they operate. As the professional body for business agility, Richard’s products work alongside continuous professional development to help individuals strengthen their competence in applying agile principles.
Richard has spent his career in the advanced technology sector, working across a blend of commercial and product management roles in the communications, defence, finance and transportation industries, serving customers around the world.

Ariadna Cruz Grobério is an internationally recognized thought leader in project and program management, with over 25 years of experience leading transformative initiatives at the intersection of artificial intelligence, digital innovation, and strategic governance. As a Senior Project / Program Manager, she leads global programs focused on operational safety, regulatory compliance, and AI-driven innovation.
Marketing Director of the Project Management Institute (PMI) United Kingdom Chapter, where she advances professional development, standards innovation, and inclusive leadership. She is a co-author of the PMI Global Standards for Artificial Intelligence, helping shape how emerging technologies are integrated into modern project environments.
Ariadna’s career encompasses high-impact programs for government institutions, including initiatives supported by the International Monetary Fund, and national transformations in Brazil, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. Currently, she is a Project Manager at Microsoft.
She is also a best-selling author in Brazil, with published books on leadership and organizational transformation that have positively impacted and inspired the lives of many women navigating professional and personal transitions. Her writing brings together deep expertise and human insight, offering accessible guidance for thriving in times of change. With an MBA in Project Management and over 18 years of volunteer leadership within PMI, she is a passionate advocate for excellence, mentorship, and the evolution of project leadership in the age of intelligent enterprise.
