Webinar Description

Summary

  • 💡 Introduction to AI and ChatGPT: Kristian Bainey opens by explaining the impact of generative AI in project management, highlighting ChatGPT’s rise to over one million users within five days. He frames ChatGPT as a “smart assistant” capable of transforming productivity through data-driven insights.
  • 🤖 Understanding AI vs Generative AI: AI assists humans in decision-making through data analysis, while generative AI creates new information—text, audio, or visuals—based on learned data. Bainey clarifies the evolution of AI from the 1930s to the NLP-driven models like ChatGPT.
  • 🧠 ChatGPT Versions and Capabilities: He distinguishes between ChatGPT 3.5 (free, trained up to 2021) and ChatGPT 4.0 (paid, $20/month) with real-time data via Bing, plugins for diagrams, and advanced data analytics.
  • ⚙️ Project Management Integration: The talk centers on how ChatGPT can be used to “supercharge” project management workflows — from writing statements of work, generating business cases, to stakeholder analysis and Gantt charts — all with tailored prompts.
  • 🗣️ Prompt Engineering Framework: Bainey introduces his “prompt engineering” method: clear, concise, and iterative input to refine results. He emphasizes that project managers should “act as a role,” include the ask, context, format, and tone for optimal output.
  • 📊 Automation and Analytics: ChatGPT can analyze resumes, perform cost-benefit analysis, generate critical paths, and visualize data instantly, allowing professionals to make faster and better-informed decisions.
  • 💬 Tone Customization and Persuasion: By using tone directives (e.g., “empathetic,” “persuasive”), ChatGPT helps project managers craft sensitive messages or compelling business proposals.
  • 🧩 Practical Prompt Examples: Demonstrations include using ChatGPT for summarizing books, creating persuasive business cases, and generating power-interest grids or agile user stories.
  • 🔍 Plugins and Advanced Tools: Bainey showcases plugins like VoxScript (for summarizing YouTube videos), ScholarAI (for sourcing academic references), and LucidAI (for diagrams), illustrating real-world project management applications.
  • 🧩 Ethics, Bias, and Human Judgment: He reiterates that while AI assists in decision-making, humans remain the final decision-makers. AI provides insights and options, but ethical choices must be human-led.
  • 📘 Learning and Future of AI: He concludes with insights on continuous learning through AI, promoting curiosity and adaptability. His upcoming book (April 2024) promises deeper exploration of customizing AI models for organizations.

Insights Based on Numbers

  • 🚀 1 Million Users in 5 Days: A striking growth benchmark compared to Twitter (24 months) and Spotify (5 months), showing how quickly AI adoption scales.
  • 💵 $20 per Month for ChatGPT-4: An affordable entry point for project managers seeking advanced accuracy and features.
  • 🧩 175 Billion Parameters: Represents the scale of data shaping ChatGPT’s intelligence, underscoring its potential in complex project analytics.
  • 🕐 3 Learning Waves Predicted: Reflects ongoing evolution — project managers who adapt early gain a competitive advantage.
