Bridging the gap between academic Project Management and Practices: The role of the industry Practitioners and Professional Bodies
24th April 2019 at 5.45pm
Eni House, Basing View, Basingstoke, RG21 4YY
Main Speaker: Dr. Issac Sakyi Damoah
Real life begins at graduation for students when they start to put their knowledge into use and manage their resources and plans. So Bournemouth University takes care not just on whether students have learned material, but how and where it will take them later.
This presentation focuses on how the interaction between academia, industry and professional bodies contributes to building the students’ skills necessary to enter a career where Project Management is essential to the success of the organization.
There are mutual interests’ reasons for industrial firms, professional bodies and universities to work together. Universities want to expose students and faculty to practical problems, create employment opportunities for their graduates, and gain access to applied technological areas. Benefits to a firm include access to highly trained students, facilities, and faculty as well as an enhanced image when collaborating with a prominent academic institution. Professional bodies work to advance the project management profession worldwide and their program makes possible for the students to receive knowledge resources and networking opportunities that can help them get started in a Project Management career.
An interactive discussion will also take place where the experience’s contribution is sought from the attendees.
