Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre Redevelopment & Site Visit
4th July 2018 6.15pm
Main Speakers: Nigel Munro of Henry Boot, and Scott Ramsay of Aberdeen City Council
The new £333million Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) facility at Bucksburn, is due to be completed in 2019. It is being built by Aberdeen City Council in partnership with Henry Boot Developments, with Robertson as the main contractor.
The new AECC will be of economic and cultural benefit to Aberdeen, surrounding district, the North East and Scotland as a whole by supporting the infrastructure of the North East and creating an international destination. It is expected to attract major artists to the city as well as contributing an additional 4.5 million visitors, £113 million of visitor spend and £63m net GVA to the Scottish economy over the next ten years.
The project will see the creation of a new 12,500 capacity arena, conference halls, a subterranean multipurpose space, Energy Centre, Hilton and Aloft hotels, car parking and public space.
The development has been designed to be an exemplar in sustainability – in line with Aberdeen’s position as European Energy Capital. The new Energy Centre will use local crops and Aberdeen’s farm and food waste to produce efficient energy for the new AECC and potentially the wider area.
Special Note: PPE is required for the site tour. Limited spares will be available on the night. Please bring the following items if you have them :Safety footwear, high-viz vest/jacket, hard hat, safety glasses and gloves.
