Managing the Prevention
13th November 2019 at 5.45 pm
Eni House, Basing View, Basingstoke, RG21 4YY
Main Speaker: David Harris
The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM Regulations) are intended to ensure that health and safety issues are properly considered during a project’s development so that the risk of harm to those who build, use and maintain structures is reduced.
They require that designers, principal designers, principal contractors and contractors to take account of the 'principles of prevention' in carrying out their duties. The principles of prevention are specified in Schedule 1 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 which apply to all industries, including construction. They provide a framework to identify and implement measures to control risks.
David’s presentation will outline an overview of the CDM principles of prevention then look at how we can manage to apply each of the principles with some practical examples.
